GameCamp! invited us over to judge the final game design teams at the last Louisiana GameCamp! of the summer in Thibodaux, and we were happy to oblige. The team was especially impressed by an Advanced Camp student's one-man presentation of an innovative Zelda/Okami hybrid for the DS. We'd like to thank GameCamp! for hosting such an incredible program for kids interested in joining the game industry.

We judged the game design competition again at the Lafayette GameCamp! this week, and were really impressed by the students' ideas. Extra kudos to the team with the Wii cooking sim!

Yatec members served as judges for GameCamp!'s student game design competition in Lafayette, LA on June 22. GameCamp! is a workforce incubator program for kids interested in getting into the game industry, and Yatec is proud to partner with them to build Louisiana’s educational infrastructure.

Two members of our team conducted an informal focus group at St. Joseph's Academy, one of three schools in the nation to receive the U.S. Department of Education's Special Emphasis Award in Technology. Students and faculty supplied a wealth of useful feedback on our first game, while our team members answered questions about the game development process and how to prepare for getting into the game industry.

Three of our team members attended the Serious Games Summit in Washington, D.C to learn more about opportunities for serious games development in non-entertainment sectors such as education, government, military, health, and science. The Yatec team understands the portential of games to teach, train, and empower people in achieving their goals, and we aim to develop dynamic serious games in the near future.

Feedback testing for our first puzzle game has begun! After extensive in-house testing, we've invited over 200 players to check out our game and give us their thoughts through an online survey. Participants who signed up for our newsletter have been entered for a chance to win a $100 Best Buy gift certificate. The winner will be announced when our game goes live on our site in November!

Yatec attended the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the premier gaming trade show, in Los Angeles, California. Members of Yatec were in Los Angles for a week visiting the trade show floor and attending seminarts and sessions with the industry's top leaders.

Yatec hosted the Red Stick International Animation Festival VIP dinner reception held at the Louisiana Art and Science Museum. The VIP dinner was held in honor of the speakers and presenters of the Red Stick International Animation Festival and unveiled a multimedia presentation by Sonic Vision in the Irene W. Pennington Planetarium.

Yatec participated in the Louisiana Department of Economic Development's Entrepreneur Day at the Capital where Governor Kathleen Blanco and Sectretary of the Department of Economic Development Michael Olivier addressed members of the business community regarding moving Louisiana's economoy forward.

Yatec attended the game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Jose, California. A team of developers attended the week long conference, and participated in sessions, seminars, and panel discussions. Topics and tracks ranged from audio and visual to game design and production, and finally business management and development.

Governor's Conference on Economic Development: Baton Rouge, LA - Yatec attended a two-day seminar hosted by Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco. The conference featured economic development workshops ranging from utilization of the Gulf Opportunity Zone Act (GO Zone) and other federal and state tax incentives, to workforce issues and community image enhancement.

Game Marketing Conference: San Francisco, CA - This conference gave us the opportunity to learn some of the newest online game marketing techniques. Yatec management met with key industry figures, checked out some nontraditional marketing tips, and built new relationships with colleagues.

How to Break into the Video Game Industry: Austin, TX - Yatec management attended this conference to meet with industry experts, make new contacts, and hear sage advice on getting into the game industry from members of the Austin game development community.

How to Profit in the Video Game Industry : New York, NY - Dean Majoue (President) and Hayden Middlebrook (General Manager) attended our first conference in the game industry. The New York conference served as a building block to get a general overview of the video game market. Dean and Hayden attended seminars regarding all aspects of the industry, including development team size, production time/cost, and methods of distribution.
